This is slightly intimate and closed at first, less so when retasted at CVBG. It seems to expect you to come to it, which is fair enough, for its shimmering purity is the reward when you do so! Undemonstrative and all the more mysterious, intriguing and elegant for that. Black berry fruits, a little freshly grated high purity dark chocolate, some subtle wild herbal notes and a little purple florality that is utterly delightful, even captivating. Beautifully composed, spherical at the core and with great density and layering. This is packed with popping, crunchy berries, the external parameters of the relatively narrow form it takes in the mouth generously enrobed and outlined by the fine-grained, beady and persistent tannins. Tapias in 2023 is a wine of supreme balance and very long term aging potential. It’s every bit as good as the excellent 2022 and probably a little more. Indeed, it’s something of a new reference for single-vineyard Rioja." - 99 Punkte
