Neben Château Pontet Canet, dem Pionier des Bordeaux-Bioweinbaus und Château Palmer sind zahlreiche Grand Cru Classés bereits Bio-, manche sogar Biodynamie- zertifiziert: Latour, Pichon Comtesse, Smith Haut Lafitte, La Lagune, Ferrière, Pedesclaux, Canon-La-Gaffelière, l'Evangile, Durfort-Vivens, Mazeyres. Weitere prominente Namen wie Lafite-Rotschild, Angélus, Montrose und Yquem sind gerade in der Umstellung.

Der ökologische Weinbau bzw. der Bioweinbau wird durch eine EU-Verordnung geregelt. Biowinzer müssen strenge Vorgaben folgen und sich regelmäßig Biokontrollen unterziehen, um das Biosiegel für Ihre Weine nutzen zu dürfen.
